[from the desk of G. Sheaves, Minneapolis MN, 2010]
This is a blog about wine, but it’s also about Minneapolis, cocktails, cheeseburgers, local beer, and Twins baseball [probably]. This is not where you’ll find hard-hitting wine criticism. I am a lover of wine, and I want you to be one as well. You won’t find any 100 point ratings [of my own making, anyway] and you won’t find long diatribes about how this year’s vintage stacks up against the three previous.
What I hope you will find is recommendations of nice bottles of wine to buy and where in Minneapolis to get them. I don’t receive any free samples [not that I wouldn't, obv] and I make a rather paltry salary at my day job. So, the majority of bottles I’ll discuss range between 5 and 20 dollars, with the occasional spendier one when I get the chance. 90% of wine drinkers buy in that same price range and I firmly believe you don’t have to spend $50 and up to get a good bottle. If you find one reviewed on the site that you like, I’m happy to recommend similar and/or pricier ones.
Wine is not a serious subject, so here it will not be treated as such. It is, however, an important one [to me at least] because it involves the things that are really important at the end of the day: namely, time spent with family and friends over good food. It’s my sincere hope that the wines I talk about here deliver you the same happiness they’ve given me.
A Salut and happy drinking!

Great blog. Have you tried the 2007 Querceto Chianti Clasico available at Sam’s Wholesale club for $11.97. I swear it is the best $12 bottle of red you can find. It honestly tastes like a $35 bottle.
They have a Reserve for $15.
